Proactive Wellness Care
Because Your Pet Can’t Tell You What’s Wrong
Regular exams are one of the most effective ways to protect your pet’s long-term health. Because pets age faster than people, changes can happen quickly—often without obvious signs. Routine visits allow your veterinarian to monitor your pet over time, recognize subtle changes, and address concerns early—before they become more serious. Combined with what you notice at home, these exams play an important role in keeping your pet healthy and comfortable.
What Happens During a Wellness Exam
During a wellness visit, your veterinarian performs a thorough evaluation of your pet’s overall health and discusses any changes you’ve noticed. The goal is to establish a baseline and identify potential concerns early.
Your wellness exam may include:
A review of your pet’s medical history
Monitoring weight and age-related changes
A complete physical examination of the teeth, mouth, eyes, ears, skin, coat, and paws
A discussion of behavioral changes, such as increased thirst, changes in appetite, altered sleep patterns, or reduced activity
Evaluation for early signs of disease affecting the heart, liver, kidneys, joints, and more
Recommendations for vaccinations and preventive care tailored to your pet’s lifestyle and risk factors
Sick Exams
When Your Pet Isn’t Feeling Well
If your pet is showing signs of illness or discomfort, a sick exam helps us determine what’s going on and how to treat it. Your veterinarian will evaluate symptoms and, if needed, recommend diagnostic testing to better understand your pet’s condition.
For senior pets, routine testing may also be recommended—even if they appear healthy—to help detect age-related changes early.
